A message from Henry J. Shapiro, M.D.

The cancer center at Jupiter Medical Center has evolved beyond that of a community cancer facility. For nine years, Jupiter Medical Center has been a comprehensive cancer center-the likes of major cancer facilities across the United States. Today, local cancer patients don't need to travel far from home to get state-of-the-art technology and a level of expertise usually reserved for academic cancer centers.

So much is happening to make cancer treatment more accurate and with fewer side effects. The team at Jupiter Medical Center is tapped into the world of new treatments, such as monoclonal antibodies, angiostatin drugs and the future: tumor vaccines.

Just think, in a few short years we might be able to stimulate the body's own ability to build up antibodies against a tumor so that the body can effectively cure itself. And patients at Jupiter Medical Center will be among the first to benefit from these advances.

Though by appearance we are a community hospital, Jupiter Medical Center has all the elements of a comprehensive center, including a governing tumor board, participation at cancer conference meetings and a network of facilities, including outpatient facilities, which provide the full spectrum of cancer care. We're closely evaluated every three years by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

There's no better place than home to be treated for cancer. Feel confident that the cancer center in your backyard is as equipped as any beyond our borders to provide you with the comprehensive cancer care that you deserve.
